What is ZEST?

Catalyst ZEST is a part of the Catalyst development platform. It makes API Development faster and easier by reducing the effort and time involved in various stages of the API development cycle. Catalyst ZEST is a complete, collaborative API Development Management Tool that will simplify and redefine the API lifecycle. It is like going from drawing blueprints by hand to using advanced computer-aided design software. You’re not just designing, you’re also setting the stage for automatic generation of the structural framework.

What does ZEST provide?

Using Catalyst ZEST, you can:

Imagine that you have written application using Catalyst functions or Catalyst AppSail and you want to cover rigorous API Automation for the same with all the input possibilities, to ensure stability in your codebase. You also want to create SDKs for your application and help documentation based on the APIs for your users. You can do all these automatically using ZEST, by simply defining the application’s API in our SPEC studio. You can use Catalyst ZEST to define and implement APIs from scratch.

All that the user has to do is to upload the ZSPEC file with the required inputs.

ZSPEC

ZSPEC - ZEST Specification file is an XML file with pre-defined XML schema (XSD) where you need to add the elements as per the ZEST Specification Format.Creating the ZSPEC - ZEST Specification file is the crucial and mandatory step to use ZEST as the configurations lay the base for its constituents (source codes & SDKs generation, automation testing and help documentation).
