# Get a Function Object

A function object can be created by the following method which would not fire a server-side call. The unique function ID is passed as a parameter to the method. The **functions** used in the below code snippet is the [component instance](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/sdk/web/v4/serverless/functions/get-component-instance).

```javascript
//Get the function object by passsing the function ID
var functions = catalyst.function;
var functionObject = functions.functionId(FUNCTION_ID);

```
