# User Signup

You can add a new [user](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cloud-scale/help/authentication/user-management/users/introduction/) to your Catalyst app by calling the `signUp()` method. You must pass the [user instance defined here](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/sdk/flutter/v2/cloud-scale/authentication/create-user-instance) as the argument to the `signup()` method.

The code syntax for user signup is given below:

```bash
Future<(APIResponse, ZCatalystUser)> signUp(ZCatalystUserDelegate newUser)
```

**Parameters**:
* `newUser`: The user instance created [before this operation](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/sdk/flutter/v2/cloud-scale/authentication/create-user-instance/)

A sample code snippet is shown below:

```bash
ZCatalystApp.getInstance().newUser(
        firstName: 'Patricia',
        emailId: 'p.boyle@zylker.com',
 );

try {
      var (response, user) = await ZCatalystApp.getInstance().signUp(newUser);
     print('User ID: ${user.id}')
} on ZCatalystException catch (ex) {
      print(ex.toString());
 }
```
