--- title: "CLI Release Notes" url: https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/release-notes/cli/ description: "Stay updated with the latest news on feature releases, enhancements, bug fixes, and more in the Catalyst product, CLI, and SDK components." last_updated: 2026-09-09T10:45:38Z service: All Services type: release-notes --- ### 2026 - September Bug Fix **Bug Fix in CLI Deployment:** We have resolved an issue where `[catalyst deploy](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/deploy-resources/deploy-options/)` would hang indefinitely instead of completing or failing. Deployments now complete normally. This fix is available in CLI version **1.27.2**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.27.2 ``` Bug Fix **Bug Fixes in Catalyst CLI:** We have now resolved the following issues in the Catalyst CLI: - **CLI Config Store Permission Error:** A file permission error while reading or writing the [CLI Config Store](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/cli-config/) sent the command into an infinite loop. The command now fails with a clear error instead of hanging. - **Incorrect Exit Codes:** Commands that failed with an error previously returned exit code 0, masking failures in CI pipelines and scripts. Failed commands now return a non-zero exit code. These fixes are available in the CLI version **1.27.1**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.27.1 ``` ### 2026 - August New Features **CLI version upgrade v1.27.0:** We have released a new CLI version **v1.27.0** of the Catalyst CLI with the following features. **Inline input support for Function execution:** The `[catalyst functions:execute](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/working-with-functions/functions-shell/)` command now supports an `--input ` option to pass inline JSON, a path to a JSON file, or data piped through stdin using `--input -`. **New `.functions` command in Functions Shell:** The [Functions Shell](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/working-with-functions/functions-shell/#functions-shell-command-execution) now includes a `.functions` REPL command (aliased as `.list`) that lists all functions available for execution in the current shell session, grouped by type and annotated with their language. Both commands are documented in the shell's built-in `.help` output. **Slate deploy improvements:** The [catalyst deploy slate](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/slate/help/deploy-from-cli/) command now targets a specific Slate app by name, either auto-detected from the current working directory or selected interactively for multi-app projects. The command streams real-time build logs, polls build status, and prints the live access URL once the deployment completes. Use the `--no-wait` option to skip waiting for the build to finish. **Non-interactive mode for the CLI:** The Catalyst CLI now supports a non-interactive mode for the following commands: `login`, `logout`, `whoami`, `init`, `project:list`, `project:use`, `project:reset`, `serve`, `pull`, `deploy`, `appsail:add`, `functions:add`, `functions:delete`, `functions:execute`, `client:setup`, `client:delete`, `slate:create`, `slate:link` and `slate:unlink`. Note: The `functions:setup` and `functions:shell` commands are not supported in non-interactive mode. Delete operations in `functions:delete` and `client:delete` are also not supported in this mode. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.27.0 ``` Enhancements **Stronger encryption for locally stored CLI credentials:** We have improved the security of locally stored [authentication](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/login/login-from-cli/) tokens by changing the encryption algorithm from AES-256-CBC to AES-256-GCM. Deprecated **Deprecation in Functions Execute command:** The positional `[data]` argument in `catalyst functions:execute` (for example, `catalyst functions:execute '{"k":"v"}'`) is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. Use `--input '{"k":{}}'` instead. **Deprecation of bare-pipe stdin in Functions Execute:** Passing data through a bare pipe without an explicit flag (for example, `cat input.json | catalyst functions:execute `) is no longer consumed by the command, and a migration warning is now displayed in this case. Use `--input -` to explicitly read input from stdin. Bug Fix **Bug Fix in AppSail Custom Runtime Serve:** We have resolved a validation issue that incorrectly blocked serving [custom runtime AppSail](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/serverless/help/appsail/introduction/) targets during startup. Validation is now handled correctly, and valid custom runtime targets now serve successfully. This fix is available in CLI version **1.26.2**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.26.2 ``` ### 2026 - June New Features **CLI version upgrade v1.26.0 :** We have released a new CLI version **v1.26.0** of the Catalyst CLI with support for additional runtimes in [Catalyst Functions](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/serverless/help/functions/stack/) and [AppSail Catalyst Managed Runtimes](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/serverless/help/appsail/catalyst-managed-runtimes/key-concepts/). This version adds support for the following runtimes: - **Java:** Java 21 and Java 25 - **Node.js:** Node 22 and Node 24 - **Python:** Python 3.10, Python 3.11, Python 3.12, and Python 3.13 To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.26.0 ``` Bug Fix **Bug Fixes in Catalyst Slate CLI :** We have now resolved the following issues in the [Catalyst Slate](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/slate/getting-started/introduction/) CLI commands: - **Config File Read on First Deploy (Deploy):** The `.catalyst/slate-config.toml` file is now read only when deploying a Slate app for the first time. Subsequent deploys of an existing app no longer require the file, so re-deploys succeed even when the file is missing, untracked, or in `.gitignore`. - **Relative Path Support (Serve/Deploy):** To resolve path issues in repositories, we have added relative path support in Slate Serve and Deploy. Existing absolute paths continue to work without any changes. These fixes are available in the CLI version **1.26.1**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.26.1 ``` Bug Fix **Bug Fix in AppSail Serve :** We have now resolved an AppSail startup issue caused by a `sh: command not found` error during [AppSail serve](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/cli/v1/serve-resources/serve-all-resources/#serve-appsail-applications). This fix is available in the CLI version **1.26.1**. This fix is available in the CLI version **1.25.2**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.25.2 ``` Bug Fix **Bug Fixes in Catalyst Slate CLI :** We have now resolved the following issues in the [Catalyst Slate](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/slate/getting-started/introduction/) CLI commands: - **Framework Auto-Detection (Init/Link):** We have now resolved an issue where React + Vite projects were incorrectly detected as Next.js projects. Framework detection now uses `package.json` script-binary signals and falls back to the framework picker for low-confidence matches. - **Dev Command Default (Init/Link):** We have now resolved an issue where the dev command defaulted to a hardcoded `npm start` instead of a framework-specific command. The prompt now requires commands to reference `$ZC_SLATE_PORT`. - **Source Option (Link):** Added the `--source` option to skip the source picker in non-interactive workflows. - **Remove Source Option (Unlink):** Added the `--remove-source` option for non-interactive source deletion. Keeping the source is now the default behavior in CI/CD environments. - **Deploy in CI/CD Environments (Deploy):** We have now resolved an issue where the `slate deploy` command did not work in CI/CD environments. These fixes are available in the CLI version **1.25.2**. To upgrade your CLI version, please use the below command in the terminal: ```sh npm install -g zcatalyst-cli@1.25.2 ``` ### 2026 - March New Features **CLI version upgrade v1.25.0 :** We have released a new CLI version **v1.25.0** of the Catalyst CLI with support for the [SmartBrowz Browser Grid](https://docs.catalyst.zoho.com/en/smartbrowz/help/browser-grid/introduction/) component.
